New Bomber Jacket

Having updated the ‘Bomber’ illustration kind of meant I had to update the Bomber Jacket piece too. I wasn’t planning on it as I was never 100% psyched on the original piece but I think that was more down to layout execution rather than the idea itself. So, starting fresh with it, but knowing the back of a jacket needed to be the focus I thought, what’s an obvious pose to feature that? Someone sat watching bikes fly past them is a good start, so I re-drew the whole piece as a rock and roll, metal loving bike fan, sat on a hedge (or the ground) somewhere enjoying the racing.

It felt like it made more sense with the new pose and jacket and even the new patches and almost like it gave a story to the image. I could be talking absolute guff though and no one might see that, but for me, it’s a better version than the original piece which I’m not including here so you would have to scroll years back through my socials to see!

Don’t worry if you do actually want to see it, I post like twice a year these days so it shouldn’t take too long.

Stop reading now if you’re not interested in the patches but for those who asked about the OG ones, I thought I should explain these new ones. BTW, if anyone wants to go in with me on making these as actual patches, give me a shout as I’d love to get some of these made and see them round on peoples bags and jackets!

Most of them are obvious but the new Road Racing patch is a take on Deep Purple, the 1907 patch which I really want to get made, but I know is SO niche is a take on Ozzy’s logo. And the 3 legs wheel at the top of the arm is just, a 3 legs wheel! I kinda thought when I coloured it up it gave ELO wizardry, prog rock, simple future kinda YES vibes. I can imagine a rock opera organ intro when I look at it – but thats probably just me.
